Biography

Dr Michele Cotugno is a specialist surgeon in urology and andrology, with expertise in andrological surgery, penile prosthetics and the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Over the years, he has acquired highly specialised expertise in the field of andrological endocrinology and semen analysis, having focused from the outset on male hypogonadism (testosterone deficiency), male infertility (diagnosis and hormone therapy) and delayed male puberty.

Training

2014: Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of L’Aquila, graded 110/110 with First Class Honours and an Academic Distinction, based on the experimental thesis: Androgen Deficiency and Vitamin D Deficiency in Patients with Spinal Cord Injury
2015: Winner of the MIUR National Competition for the Postgraduate School of Urology in Modena and Reggio Emilia (then Director: Prof. Gianpaolo Bianchi; current Director: Prof. Bernardo Cesare Maria Rocco)
2019: Award of S.I.A. Andrology Certification following successful completion of the qualifying examination (official notification dated 18 June 2019)
2020: Awarded the title of Specialist in Urology from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia following the defence of the experimental thesis “Evaluation of the surgical and functional outcomes of 33 three-component penile prosthesis implants: our experience”
2020: Completion of the SIURO (Italian Society of Uro-Oncology) Uro-Oncology Core Curriculum, subject to the acquisition of 100 ECTS credits in the field of uro-oncology
2022: Master’s degree in Clinical Sexology (Italian Institute of Integrated Sexology, Florence); qualification as an Expert in Typical and Atypical Sexuality
2023: Master’s Degree (Level II) in Surgical Andrology and Gender Dysphoria (Trieste)
2025: Master’s Degree (Level II) in Andrology and Reproductive and Sexual Medicine (Federico II University, Naples)
